Some months back, Sony promised the release of one of the most requested features for PSN for many years: The ability to change your PSN ID. After a few months, and some testing with the PS4 Preview Program, Sony has announced today that finally, all users will be able to change their PSN IDs later today, April 10th, 2019.

Along with the announcement, Sony released a small FAQ that answers many questions about how online ID changes will work, notably:
  • The first name change will be free, with any preceding name changes costing $9.99, or $4.99 if you're a PS+ subscriber.
  • Old IDs are not freed for other users to chose.
  • You can revert your new ID to your old one for free, if you don't like your new one.

As noted previously by Sony, there are some caveats with changing your PSN ID: some online games may not function correctly with your new online ID, with no guarantees for any game...

This old patent from Sony which was originally filed back in 2015 and published in 2016 was renewed on the 26th of March 2019, now there seems to be a bit of confusion over what this patent is, with some websites claiming that it is for trading digital games, which is not the case.

This patent is for a device like an amiibo which you can scan into a game, then if you wish you can trade the digital copy of that "amiibo", here is a description of the patent:
The present disclosure describes tradable physical collectible objects that have a corresponding digital copy that can be used in one or more network games associated with various gaming networks. The digital copy can be customized by the user in a variety of different ways associated with associated network games. The collectability of the tradable physical collectible object and corresponding digital copy as well as implemented customization by the user provides a value associated with the object and/or digital...

Orbital, an experimental PS4 emulator, now supports video output

The developer AlexAltea (Alexandro Sanchez) has uploaded a video showcasing some very interesting developments made to his own PS4 emulator called "Orbital". The major feature being showcased, however, is the emulator being able to output graphics for the first time, which is made possible thanks to a reimplementation of the PS4 GPU graphics pipeline and a recompiler for AMD'S GCN bytecode.

In the aforementioned video Orbital is shown booting a PS4 5.XX kernel into safe mode and displaying a CE-343XX error, which can be taken as reminder of how it's still not meant for users at the moment as it's not able to emulate a working system just yet, let alone play any kind of games. However, the feat becomes quite impressive when taking into account that the error refers to a HDD failure, something the dev was expecting as the emulator was not booted with a valid HDD image, and also how the project has only been in development for a little more than a year.

Super Real Mahjong PV has only been available on Nintendo Switch for a matter of days, but the game has already been pulled from the eShop after several scenes of nudity were spotted by players.

Super Real Mahjong is a series of arcade mahjong titles made by SETA Corporation, with many of its games being ported to the Sega Saturn (although some did make it to the Super Famicom, too). PV is a port of Super Real Mahjong P5, and it recently launched on the Japanese Switch eShop.

Nudity is featured throughout the series' arcade releases, so the Switch port has been heavily censored with beams of light being used to hide any offending material. These lights can be seen in various scenes contained with the game.various scenes contained with the game.

Unfortuantely, these beams weren't always 100% accurate in their placement, resulting in certain graphical details...

If you love Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and glorious pieces of gaming hardware as much as we do, you'll probably have a pretty hard time resisting this one. A Kickstarter crowdfunding project has recently launched offering backers a custom Switch Pro Controller featuring any character design they like from the game, and it's proving to be mighty popular.

Initially, the project had a goal of $7,500 - controllers will be made for every character regardless of whether or not someone chooses them, all to be included in a special artbook release - but this target was smashed in just four and a half hours. At the time of writing, total funds are nearing $25,000 with 27 days still left to go.

So how exactly does it work? Well, as well as cheaper options which will give you a discount on the finished book and put your name in the credits, the main backing option (set at $85) lets you pick up a customised Pro Controller featuring whichever character you like...

Today Microsoft added Crackdown 2 as a backwards compatible game on the Xbox One, in addition Microsoft has also allowed Crackdown 2 to be downloaded for free. This means now both the original Crackdown and Crackdown 2 can be downloaded for free on both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

I'm personally a big fan of both of these games, so for free both are well worth checking out. If you enjoy these games then Crackdown 3 is more of the same crazy, open world fun.

We're not sure if both Crackdown games will both be free indefinitely, so its worth adding them to your library sooner, rather than later.

A few weeks ago, Microsoft's GDC 2019 event listing described a new Xbox Live SDK heading to Android and iOS, as well as Nintendo Switch. Today we got the official announcement ... but Nintendo Switch support is mysteriously missing.

Today, Microsoft unveiled a suite of new tools for game developers under a new Azure product called GameStack, bringing together live ops systems for service-type games such as PlayFab, middleware engines like Simplygon and Havok, as well as new features like PlayFab UGC, which allows developers to set up user-generated content storefronts similar to that seen in Minecraft.

In addition to the GameStack announcement, Microsoft also touted the migration of its Xbox Live toolkit from PC and Xbox One to Android and iOS, allowing developers to include party systems, messaging, Xbox achievements...
Microsoft's new Wireless Display update allows game streaming from PC to the Xbox One

Though yesterday's announcement of the PC version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection stole the show in terms of Microsoft news, that wasn't all that the company had up its sleeve in terms of new things that they're bringing to the table. After being beta tested in private for quite a while, Microsoft has officially updated their Wireless Display app to allow players to stream their PC games to their Xbox One systems. Similar in function to Steam's Big Picture Mode, you can remotely play your PC games on your TV by beaming it to the Xbox. Any games can be streamed, be it from the Epic, Steam, or even the Windows Games Store, with the only limit being on media streaming content, such as Netflix or Hulu, which shouldn't be an issue, as both services have native Xbox One apps. The update is now live, and can be downloaded off the Microsoft Store.

Microsoft's latest episode of Inside Xbox is here, bringing with it the exciting news promised last week for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. After years of waiting, PC fans will be able to experience the game. Microsoft's team promises that this won't just be a "port", instead making sure the game runs as well as possible on the platform. FOV slider, ultrawide support, 4K HDR, and mouse and keyboard support was mentioned. Each game would roll out one by one in order of chronological release. Halo Reach will also included eventually on both PC and Xbox One. Ruffian Games and Splash Damage will be assisting 343 with creating the PC version.

It also WILL be coming to Steam.
PlayStation Vita production officially ends in Japan

Sony has officially announced plans to fully discontinue shipments of the PlayStation Vita in Japan this year, a statement which came a couple of months after they had announced the discontinuation of game cartridge production for the system. Now, as of March 1st 2019, the official pages for the remaining 2 models which were being produced, the PCH-2000 ZA11 (black) and PCH-2000 ZA23 (aqua blue), have been appended with the statement "shipment ended", now meaning that no further systems are being manufactured at all.
The Vita was launched in December 2011, enduring a fluctuating amount of praise and support until it was gradually abandoned by Sony and major AAA title developers in just a mere few years. Fortunately, the flourishing amount of third-party support in which the Vita had gained over the years just showed how spectacular the system could still be in the current generation.

Most North American Nintendo fans will be familiar with the name of Reggie Fils-Aime, the current head of Nintendo of America. It appears that his body is no longer ready, however, as 2019 will be his last year with the company. On April 15, he will retire from his position at Nintendo, and will be replaced by Doug Bowser, the VP of sales and marketing. Reggie began work at NOA 15 years ago, starting as the VP of marketing in 2003, and quickly rising to the rank of president in 2006, becoming well known to fans in the region through his personality and jokes during conferences and Nintendo Direct videos.

After more than 15 notable years at Nintendo of America, and nearly 13 as its President and COO, Reggie Fils-Aime will retire. His last day with Nintendo will be April 15. This article has been modified to be more formal

Today, We heard from XSEED on twitter that sony has refused to release Senran Kagura in the west after requesting the removal of Intimacy Mode on the PS4 of the game Version.

The steam version remains uncensored.

Not so long ago we saw the release of Omega Labyrinth Z being cancelled in the West for PS4 and PSVITA systems (back in July of 2018). The reason given was that it "promotes the sexualization of children".

Someone made a petition to keep this and future games unchanged on Sony's platform

If you want to sign the petition make sure to check the link down below:
